Empire District Electric Selects PCI Software Systems for the upcoming SPP Integrated Marketplace
Norman, OK – August 7, 2012 – Empire District Electric (EDE) has selected Power Costs, Inc. (PCI) to supply market operating software to support its participation in the upcoming Southwest Power Pool (SPP) Integrated Marketplace. EDE (NYSE: EDE) will deploy PCI GenManager for its turnkey bid-to-bill requirements, including:
- Bid Formulation – used for managing the submission of day ahead and real-time bids and offers.
- ISO Communication – used for maintenance free communication with the SPP API.
- ISO Settlements – used for downloading and verifying SPP invoices, data extracts and settlement statements.
- Shadow Settlements – used to independently verify SPP invoices and statements.
PCI’s GenManager will seamlessly integrate with other PCI components that EDE already uses such as PCI Post Analysis, Energy Accounting, Deal Management (with eTagging), GenTrader and GenPortal. By once again selecting PCI, EDE will recognize an even higher return on their existing software investment. EDE and PCI will be working together to prepare for the upcoming SPP Integrated Marketplace through 2014.
“Empire and PCI have been successfully working together since the start of the SPP EIS market. We are very excited to continue our partnership into the SPP Integrated Marketplace,” said Jason Hebert, vice president of professional services and sales at PCI.
“Utilizing PCI for the Integrated Marketplace was a logical extension of our current implementation for the SPP EIS market, as well as ease of integration with our current Energy Accounting, Deal Capture and other modules provided by PCI,” said Richard McCord, director of supply management at EDE. “It was the most effective solution compared to integration with other software vendor packages and retraining of personnel.”
